Scorecard Local Rules

Out of Bounds (Rule 18)

1. Beyond all course boundaries. Fences and supports at 1st fairway and behind the 1st green, 3rd tee, 3rd green, 6th fairway, 13th fairway, behind the 13th green and 14th fairway form part of the course boundary.

2. Beyond the white stakes / lines to the left of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 12th, 16th and 18th fairways, to the left of and behind the 13th green, to the left of and behind the 15th green and to the right of and behind the 17th green.

3. On the right of way through the Glen on the 7th and 11th holes.

4. The clubhouse enclosure and carpark. The Gravel area in front of the Clubhouse is Out of Bounds as part of the clubhouse enclosure. If a ball is lost or out of bounds, the player must take stroke-and-distance relief by adding one penalty stroke and playing the original ball or another ball from where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 18.2)

5. The Out of Bounds line behind the 16th green has been extended from the last white stake to the left of the 16th green along the left side of the path leading to the 17th green as far as the access road on the left.

Internal Out of Bounds (Rule 18)

1. When playing the 4th hole beyond the White Stakes between 4th and 5th fairways.

2. When playing the 10th hole, beyond the White Stakes between the 10th and 18th holes.

3. When playing the 11th hole, beyond the white stakes at the machinery roadway to the left of the hole.

Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16.1)

1. All roads and pathways.

2. Protective Fence guarding right of way on the 7th Hole

3. Protective fences at the 3rd, 7th, 10th, 15th and 16th tee boxes.

4. Upright stone in semi - rough on right hand side of the 4th and 10th holes.

5. Fixed sprinkler heads, hydrants, manhole and drain covers, bins, seats, ball cleaners, bell supports, staked trees, fixed yardage discs and posts, granite tee markers and direction posts.

6. Winter tee boxes, including timber surrounds.

7. White stakes identifying Internal Out of Bounds when playing any hole to which the Internal Out of Bounds does not apply.

8. The Flower beds surrounding the 10th and the 17th tee boxes are No Play Zone (abnormal course condition) in general area, therefore ball must not be played as it lies and the player must take free relief under Rule 16.1f

Artificial Hole Covers (Rule 16.1d)

If a ball lies on the putting green and an artificial hole cover intervenes on the line of play, relief may be obtained without penalty, by marking, lifting and placing the ball at the nearest point of complete relief on the putting green not nearer the hole.

Penalty Areas (Rule 17)

On the 17th hole, as an additional option to Rule 17, adding one penalty stroke, a ball may be dropped in the appropriate Dropping Zone. On the 1st and 2nd holes, as an extra relief option to Rule 17, adding one penalty stroke, a ball may be dropped within two club lengths of the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the Penalty Area on the opposite edge of the Penalty Area.

Drainage Channels (Model Local Rule F20)

Drainage channels that are made of artificial materials on the 5th, 12th and 15th holes are treated as immovable obstructions in the General area.
A player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.

Reference Point: The nearest point of complete relief.
Size of Relief area: One Club Length.

Penalty for Breach of Local Rule: Strokeplay 2 Strokes
Matchplay Loss of Hole

Local Winter Rules

Preferred Lies (Placing)

When a player's ball lies in the general area, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:

·         Reference Point:
   Position of the original ball.

 ·         Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point:
  Six inches:

 ·         Limits on Location of Relief Area:
  Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
Must be in the general area.

In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2e

 A ball may be cleaned when lifted under this Local Rule.

Penalty for Breach of Local Rule: Strokeplay 2 Strokes
Matchplay Loss of Hole

Bunkers

Any bunker marked by a Ground Under Repair Sign is ground under repair in the general area. It is not treated as a bunker during the round. If the player’s ball lies in or touches this ground under repair or the ground under repair interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b by dropping the original ball or another ball in the Relief Area.
All other bunkers on the course, are still bunkers for all purposes under the Rules.

·         Reference Point:
Nearest Point of Complete Relief.

Note: This point can be behind a bunker.

·         Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point:
One Club Length:

·         Limits on Location of Relief Area:
Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
Must be in the General Area.

Note: A player proceeding under this Local Rule may, if appropriate, then proceed under any Local Rule covering Preferred Lies.

Relevant Rules

Rule 14.2 Replacing Ball on Spot

b) This Rule applies whenever a ball is lifted or moved and a Rule requires it to be replaced on a spot.

2) How Ball Must Be Replaced. The ball must be replaced by setting it down on the required spot and letting it go so that it stays on that spot. If the player plays a ball that was replaced in a wrong way but on the required spot, the player gets one penalty stroke. e) What to Do If Replaced Ball Does Not Stay on Original Spot If the player tries to replace a ball but it does not stay on the required spot, the player must try a second time. If the ball again does not stay on that spot, the player must replace the ball by placing it on the nearest spot where the ball will stay at rest, but with these limits depending on where the original spot is located: 

• The spot must not be nearer the hole.
• Original Spot in General Area.
• The nearest spot must be in the general area.

Rule 16.1 Free Relief 

b. Free relief is allowed when the ball is in the general area and there is interference by an abnormal course condition. The nearest point of complete relief should be identified and a ball must be dropped in and come to rest in the relief area. The relief area is one club-length from the reference point, is not nearer to the hole than the reference point and must be in the general area. When taking relief, the player must take complete relief from all interference by the abnormal course condition.
