Background: This competition was organised by the committee in 1969 in order to encourage scratch and matchplay golf in the club.
Rules:
Entry forms for the Club Championship matchplay competition are now available behind the bar. Entry fee is €5 per person.
Closing date for entries is Monday 24th April @ 7 pm and the draw will be held immediately after closing.
The Club Championship Competition is open to Men, Ordinary, Intermediate, Junior Intermediate and Senior Members.
All matches are played off Scratch.
All matches are played from the Blue Markers or in their absence from the Permanent Stone Tee Markers.
Matches in each round must be completed and the result must be posted on the Draw Sheet before the Closing Date. The winning player is responsible for posting the result.
Both players are equally responsible for the organising of matches. Each player must offer his opponent the choice of at least two dates to play a match.
This competition is open to any Male Ordinary, Intermediate, Junior Intermediate or Senior Member.
A breach of any of the above Rules will result in Disqualification.
Extensions to the Closing Date for any round will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances.
Any decision to allow or refuse an Extension shall be at the sole discretion of the Referee(s).
The Referee(s) shall have the right to alter the Closing Date for any or all rounds. Any decision made by the referee(s) shall be final.
Prizes will be awarded to the Winner and Runner-Up.

Background: This cup was presented to the club in 1923 by the Killy Club of Dublin, in appreciation of the kindness accorded to them on their visits to the club. In 1934 the Killy Club presented a Killy Plate which was competed for annually.
Rules:
The format shall be Singles Handicap Matchplay played at 100% handicap allowance of the course handicap on the day of the match.
All matches are played off the Blue markers or in their absence from the permanent stone markers.
The Draw, once made will be displayed in the locker room and will include the Final Date for the completion of each round.
Failure to complete a match by the closing date will result in the Disqualification of both players unless one player has conceded the match.
No additions or alterations will be allowed once the draw is made.
Both players are equally responsible for the organising of matches.
Each player must offer his opponent the choice of two dates to play a match.
This competition is open to any Male Ordinary, Intermediate, Junior Intermediate or Senior Member with Fully Developed Handicap Index.
Extensions to the closing date will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances. Any decision to allow or refuse an extension shall be at the sole discretion of the referees.

Rules:
All matches are played off the player’s handicap allowance at 90% of the course handicap on the date of the match.
The stroke allowance is calculated by reducing the lowest handicapped player(s) to scratch. The remaining players receive full difference between their playing handicap and that of the lowest handicapped player.
Example:
Player A (5) & Player B (14) play Player C (8) & Player D (16)
Player A goes to Scratch and receives No Strokes
Player B receives 9 Strokes (14 – 5 = 9)
Player C receives 3 Strokes (8 – 5 = 3)
Player D receives 11 Strokes (16 – 5 =11)
All matches are played from the Blue Markers or in their absence from the Permanent Stone Tee Markers.

Background: This competition was inaugurated in 1960 by the Club Committee.

Background: This Matchplay competition was held for the first time in 1995. It then went to abeyance until Captain Liam Devlin and Lady Captain Mary Kavanagh presented the inaugural Centenary Mixed Trophy to the club in 2004. This event did not take place in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rules:
The Competition shall be known as the Wicklow Golf Club Mixed Foursomes Championship.
Entry forms for the Club Mixed Foursomes matchplay competition are available behind the bar. Closing date for entries is Monday 24th April @ 7 pm and the draws will be held immediately after closing.
Entry fee is €5 per person.
The draw sheet will be available on the landing notice board, on the HowDidIDo website and club website under Club Matchplay.
The format shall be Foursomes Matchplay played off handicap indices on the date of the match, with the man playing from the 1st tee.

Background: This beautiful challenge trophy was presented to the ladies of the club in 1910 by Colonel Charles Tottenham of Ballycurry, Ashford. Initially to be played for by lady members of the club against bogey. The competition was changed to strokes in 1912 and it remained in that format until 1960. In 1960 the competition was changed to matchplay and has since become the premier matchplay event on the ladies calendar. In 1939 when the original trophy filled up with names, the Tottenham family donated a replacement cup. In 1978 the original trophy was renamed the Tottenham Trophy and has since been used for a separate competition.

This competition is open to Women (Ordinary, Associate, Senior, 5-Day, Intermediate & Junior Intermediate) members and Approved Junior Girls.

Format: 18 Hole Singles Matchplay
Competitors shall use their current Handicap Index to determine their Course Handicap.
Handicap allowance is the full difference between the Course Handicaps of the two players.
Example 1:
Player A (10) & Player B (25). Therefore 25-10 = 15 i.e. Player B will receive 15 shots.
Example 2:
Payer A (10) & Player B (42). Player B will receive 32 shots.
All matches are played from the Red Markers or in their absence from the appropriate Permanent Stone Tee Markers.
Both players are equally responsible for the organising of matches. A choice of at least two dates must be offered by each pair.
5-Day Members must pay a green fee if playing a match on a Saturday or a Sunday.
There will be no extensions granted. If a match is not played by the closing date both players will be disqualified unless one of the players has received a walk-over.
Results of matches must be posted by winning player by due date; otherwise both players will be disqualified.
Referees shall have the right to alter the closing date for any or all rounds.
Referees decision is final.
Prizes will be awarded to the Winner and Runner-Up.

There is a new Perpetual Trophy being presented by the Women's Committe for this 9 Hole Matchplay and we would encourage as many women with a course handicap of 37+ to enter.

Women's Foursomes

Background: This competition began in 1968 and went into abeyance in 1977. It was resurrected in 2001 by the Lady Captain, Mary Flynn and her Committee, and it is now going stronger than ever. The competition was renamed from Ladies Foursomes to Women’s Foursomes in December 2022 as part of the new constitution.
This year we are trialling a draw for partners for the 18 Hole Foursomes Matchplay.
There will be no handicap restriction for this competition however players must have a fully developed handicap (Have 20 scores returned)
Following the closing date the entrants will be split into two groups by Handicap. Group A will be the half with the lower handicaps and Group B will be the higher handicaps. The pairings will be made with one player drawn from Group A and one from Group B.
