Week 16 Update Report

With only one Winter league qualifying weekend remaining, the battle to secure one of the Top 12 qualifying slots for Finals Day on 11th March will go right down to the wire.

In addition, the Top 3 teams & Top golfer in each category will also be awarded prizes so there is still plenty to play for.

Team Report

Leading the way this week with an excellent score of 64 points in poor conditions, Team 25: Ger Murphy (24), Michael Doyle (32), Patrick Doyle (30) & Thomas Murphy (32)

Overall Standings

1st - Team 15: Aidan Doyle, Garry Kelly, Robert Jacob & Tony McKeever, 832 pts

2nd - Team 6: Alan Hester, Justin Connolly, Simon Wheatley & Tom Wheatley, 820 pts

T-3rd - Team 12: Brendan Blake, Cian O'Sullivan, Joseph Murley & Patrick Boyle, 807 pts

T-3rd – Team 25: Ger Murphy, Michael Doyle, Patrick Doyle & Thomas Murphy, 807 pts

First and second places look like they will be decided between Teams 15 & 6. Team 6 are currently including their lowest score of 58 so a strong weekend could see them claim top spot.

The battle for the top 3 will be decided on the final weekend between teams 12 & 25, team 10 (Derek Quinn, Frankie Scott, Jonathan Quinn & Paul Walsh) are only 8 points behind in 5th and could still leapfrog the two teams ahead of them.

Team 27: Gavin Carroll, Greg Garland, Kieran Roche & Paul Garland are clinging on to the final place in the top 12 but with 4 other teams within 8 points of them they will need to put in a good score to ensure qualification for finals day.

2nd – Jimmy Carthy, 384 pts

3rd – John O'Neill Jnr., 371 pts

Peter O’Hagan retained his two point advantage over Jimmy Carthy with John O’Neill jnr up 1 place to 3rd

Category 2

1st - Aidan Doyle, 420 pts

2nd - Derek Quinn, 416 pts

3rd - Michael Doyle, 405 pts

The top 3 all scored 32 points to leave the same margins as last week

Category 3

1st - Paul Ronan, 425 pts

2nd - Tom Wheatley, 403 pts

3rd - Brendan Blake, 398 pts

Paul Ronan extends his lead to 22 points, and has virtually sealed top spot in Category 3

Category 4

1st - Michael T. O'Neill, 403 pts

2nd - David Murphy, 377 pts

3rd – Alan Hester, 376 pts

Michael has extended his lead to 26 points and will likely be crowned the winner in Category 4 next week

The men's Winter League began on the weekend 29th/30th October and ends weekend 25th/26th February 2017.

There are four handicap categories with individual prizes per category each week:

  • 0-10
  • 11-15
  • 16-20
  • 21-28
Teams are of four players and best two scores to count each weekend. The entry fee is €10 per player and is payable by 6 p.m. on Sunday 30th October 2016. Competitors can pick their own team partners.
